How much will my project cost?
Great question! Cost varies a lot from project to project. For this reason, we have an extensive process to come up with the most accurate estimate possible for your project. The best thing you can do to determine cost will be to reach out to us ASAP. We’ll have you fill out an intake form, then we will set up a meeting, and after that we will give you an estimate. Yes, you can bet we are more expensive than just slapping a vinyl sticker onto your window. But we think you’ll find that we (and your business) are worth the handcrafted time honored tradition of sign painting. We take most forms of payment, and we have payment plan options, so we can always find a way to work within your budget.

What is the turn around time?
This varies project to project, and will be discussed in our estimate process. We are usually pretty booked up, but we can occasionally fit in a rush order job (with a rush order charge.) The best way to make sure we can handle your project with the utmost care is to contact us early. The earlier you contact us, the more likely we are able to fit you into our schedule.

Will I need a sign permit?
This also varies based on your project and your location. But the good news is that we have extensive experience with permitting and can help you in that process.

How long will my sign last?
There is a good amount of variation on this based on what kind of sign we make for you, whether it is inside or outside, and how you take care of it. However we will give you care instructions for your sign at the completion of the project, and given you follow those instructions, your sign should last for quite some time.

What if I don’t have an exact logo or design yet?
Good news - we can do design work for you! We have created some really rad branding and art for our clients, and would be happy to do so for you. Check out our design page to see some of our original creations.

Will you travel for a project?
Yes! Ink & Hammer is located in Dayton, Ohio, but we have traveled for many projects. We work often in Cincinnati & Columbus, and we will travel even further for projects. Travel costs will be part of your estimate. We’re willing to go as far as you want to take us.

So it’s really all hand painted?
Yes! Everything we do is painted by hand, with a brush & a lot of heart. On wood, on glass, on metal, on brick, up high, in our workshop, on a ladder, or on foot - we make it happen by hand.

Is the gold leaf really gold?
Yes! We use genuine noble gold leaf with actual karat counts and all. It is a beautiful process we can’t wait to share with you.
